I'm just saying you don't need to have them on every song or every album. I'm not saying stop the politics in your songs. And this is coming from someone that generally agrees with his politics. He lost the mystery and poetic prose he demonstrated up to WYWH and swapped it for blunt wordy songs that tend to revolve around the same subjects.

Plus Nigel managed to contain some of Rogers excesses.īut now for the kicker, and I imagine there will be many that disagree with this controversial statement, but lyrically Roger has gone down hill a bit. Maybe because it does remind me of the Final Cut with bits of Animals and WYWH thrown in. In the interest of balance and fairness I do prefer Rogers most recent solo effort to David's. Although in it's defence it continues to grow on me with each listen. The Final Cut is probably Rogers best solo album, but as a Pink Floyd album it was missing 3/4 of the chemistry that made DSOTM, WYWH, Meddle, even Animals and the Wall such classics. His solo albums tend to be like lyrically dense tone poems. David writes better music then Roger who tends to favour lyrics over music. I prefer On an Island and David Gilmour's self titled first album to anything Roger has released solo.
